About Scouts BSA Troop 7071

Scouts BSA Troop 7071 is a troop of girls located in Athens, Ohio. Troop 7071 was chartered through the Kiwanis Club of Athens County in early 2023, with a core group of 5 founding girls. Mr. Healy is the scoutmaster with assistant scoutmaster Mrs. Ferraro.

The troop offers many activities for girls in and around Athens County Ohio, including camping, hiking, kayaking, and other outdoor and STEM related adventures.

Our Mission

Troop 7071 is a traditional scouting troop. We operate according to the BSA-established aims and methods of scouting. We are committed to making a difference in the Athens County region. Scouts often participate in community service activities such as waste clean-up, environmental preservation, and collecting food for the hungry. We are also committed to helping other youth groups in the Athens region through efforts such as mentoring and partnering.

Our Purpose

A goal of Scouts BSA is to help youth develop into honorable adults. Scouting’s values can be incorporated into one’s home or school. Scouts have many opportunities to learn skills of leadership, of the outdoors, and of life. Each Scout decides what they will learn and how quickly they will do it. As a Scout progresses, the value of their achievements will be reinforced through recognition and accomplishments during outdoor adventures.

Youth Protection

Youth Protection policies are central to the BSA’s commitment to keep our members safe. Every adult volunteer must complete Youth Protection Training when they register and must retake the training every two years. Youth and adult handbooks also provide information on Youth Protection, as does the BSA website.
